Designed by Françoise Caron and the Takasago perfume team, Astier de Villatte’s Commune de Paris 1871 is a subversive eau de cologne—initially offering an explosion of Sicilian lemons mixed with rosemary and bergamot. Beneath its cheeky façade, however, lie the charming powdery scents of labdanum, benzoin, cedar wood, and patchouli, characteristic of its time. Commune de Paris also contains essences of benzaldehyde, coumarin, lavender absolute, pink pepper extract, and vetiver.
